South East Apprenticeships Tasmania (SEAT) Program

MAS National’s South East Apprenticeships Tasmania (SEAT) Program supports regional job seekers to overcome barriers to employment, and helps to support growing local industries to meet their workforce development needs.

The Program combines pre-employment training including soft skills, technical skills, the attainment of a white card and mental health strategies with career support, employment brokerage services, transportation, intensive mentoring and an incentive scheme.

Program vocational skills include:

✔ Prepare to work safety in the construction industry – White card

✔ Use Carpentry tools and equipment

✔ Interact effectively with others at work

✔ Contribute to health and safely of self and others

Features of the Program:

✔ Transport for pre-employment training and first 3 months of employment

✔ Work experience

✔ Workplace mentoring up to 6 months

✔ Meaningful job matching

Program requirements:

➡ Start date – Monday September 9, 2019

➡ For young people 15-20 years of age, who are interested in construction and the agricultural industry

➡ Located in Sorell and surrounds

➡ Small groups, with 3 intakes over the next 12 months

➡ 10 week program, 2-5 days per week

Collaborating with South East Region Development Association, Work & Training, Community Transport Services Tasmania, Interact Australia, the Department of Education’s Trade Training Centre, MAS National is able to provide a holistic approach to skills development and leverage their extensive industry networks to support job seekers into meaningful employment and gain an apprenticeship or traineeship to sustain their employability.
