So what's it all about?

From 1 December 2009 – 28 February 2010, the Australian Government launched the Apprentice Kickstart Program. This meant that all small and medium-sized employers who employed a first year apprentice, aged 19 or younger, in a skills shortage trade, would be eligible to receive and addition bonus cash incentive of $3,350 by the end of the first year.

Due to it’s success, on 12 May 2010, the Australian Government announced the extension of the Apprentice Kickstart Program, which ran from 12 May – 12 November 2010 (inclusive).

In addition to this financial incentive to Employers, the Australian Government has released funding to enable us to offer the extra support of our Kickstart Mentoring Program.

We know that even the best Employers and teenage Apprentices can sometimes use a bit of extra help during that critical period of the first six months of the apprenticeship, and that’s what we’re here for.

If you are an Employer and have any issues that are impacting on the employment of your apprentice, your Kickstart Mentor is available to discuss the progression of your apprentice and help resolve any issues that need to be addressed. There is no cost to you or your apprentice for this additional level of support.

If you are an Apprentice and you’ve got a question about your apprenticeship that you’re not sure who to ask, your Kickstart Mentor is available to give you advice and support and help you get through the first few months of your apprenticeship.
