The process of signing up an Apprentice or Trainee is simple and we have knowledgeable consultants who are able to assist you every step of the way.
| STEP 1: |
Contact MAS National- A business consultant will meet with you to determine what funding you be eligible for. They will also be able to give you information regarding suitable training providers in your area to chose from. This way you will be able to select a training course and provider that suits your needs |
|
STEP 2: |
Sign up - Australian Apprentices and Trainees are covered under a formal contract known as the training contract. The contract protects both the employer and the Apprentice/Trainee and clearly outlines the obligations of both parties. These contracts need to be signed by the employer, the apprentice/trainee and their guardian if they are under the age of 18. Our knowledgeable business consultant will lead you through this process, making it as streamlined as possible for you. They may request further information from you such as:
- Wage records/ payslips for existing workers
- Guardian's Signature
- Visa information
At the sign up visit, the business consultant will bring 2 other forms to complete:
- Training Plan or Training Plan Summary (The name of this document may differ depending on which state you reside and in some states may not be relevant) - This will later be faxed to the RTO to confirm them as the training provider
- Sign up form – Outlines all the points that we need to discuss with you at the sign up and confirms that we have in fact done this.
The training contract needs to be completed within 28 days after the traineeship or apprenticeship has commenced. Most training contracts will involve a probationary period of 1 - 3 months. |
STEP 3: |
Lodging the Training Contract - The training contract will be lodged with your State Training Authority. The RTO, which you have selected to facilitate the training, will need to sign the Training Plan Summary. We will facilitate this step. |
STEP 4: |
Letter of approval - When the training contract has been approved, the State Training Authority will send a letter notifying the apprentice and employer of the contract approval. |
STEP 5: |
Claiming of incentives - Once the apprenticeship/traineeship has been approved, we will send you a letter outlining any incentives that may be payable to you and the estimated time frame of these payments. A claim form will need to be completed for each of these incentives in order for them to be approved and paid. This claim form needs to be completed within 12 months of the due date for each claim. |
STEP 6: |
Ongoing contact - We will contact the employer and apprentice after 6, 12 and 24 months to ensure that everything is running smoothly. We are of course available to assist or advise you at any time. |
STEP 7: |
Completion On completion, the State Training Authority will send you a letter asking for verification. The employer will need to provide evidence from the RTO that the training has been successfully completed. Once the State Training Authority has approved this, the employer will be eligible for the completion incentive. |
